The 6th annual Watershed Guardians Beaver Dam Jam to support beaver conservation will present music and other activities from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Mink Creek Pavilion.
The pavilion is located in the Caribou National Forest on South Mink Creek Road.
Besides live music, the event features food, a silent auction, and a super raffle featuring a boat and boating gear among other items. There will be games and demonstrations.
The opening band is “Better Than Nothing” with the headliner “The Luddites.”
Carpooling is encouraged with a flat $30 fee per vehicle pass. This means whether it be two, three or however many people are in a car, the suggested donation is still only $30. Tickets are available online at BrownPaperTickets.com, https://bpt.me/4302419, or in-person at the Snake River Fly and the BruHaus in Pocatello. Food, provided by El Caporal, is included for those who pre-purchase their tickets; arrivals at the gate will get food while it lasts.
Camping is available at no charge. There will be an open jam platform available after 8 p.m. for budding musicians.
“The event is in great setting with great music and food,” said Mike Settell, founder of Watershed Guardians, the organization sponsoring this event. “We are doing this because beaver do more to help preserve healthy native fisheries than perhaps any other factor and Watershed Guardians is the only beaver conservation organization in Idaho working to ensure they remain.”
Watershed Guardians helps the Portneuf watershed, by helping beaver. Proceeds from the events will support BeaverCount, a free winter event to census beaver colonies in the Portneuf Watershed. Funds also support beaver mitigation projects in rural areas such as BeaverDeceivers, Pond Leveler and Tree Coatings.
Event sponsors include Elmer’s Restaurant, Snake River Fly, Citizen’s Community Bank, Sportsman’s Warehouse, and others.
