The Bannock County Commissioners announced in December 2018 a contract with Rehabilitate Health Services (RHS) was secured for the implementation and operation of a new Crisis Center which will serve the communities of Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida and Power Counties. The Crisis Center will operate 24/7, 365 days a year to assist adults in crisis, from mental health challenges or substance abuse issues, to become stabilized and then connect them with community resources to help effectively deal with situations and avoid further crisis.
As previously released, Portneuf Health Trust will be providing newly renovated clinic space in their new City Center Campus building (located at 1001 North 7th Ave.) In a joint meeting with the Commissioners, County Staff, Portneuf Health Trust and RHS this week, the group collectively chose the facility’s name of South East Idaho Behavioral Crisis Center (SEIBCC).
In preparation for opening this spring, RHS has joined in partnership with its sister company, Behavioral Health Enhancement and Services (Best, LLC), a privately owned company, to manage the day to day operations, staffing and overall management of the Center. Earlier this month, Best LLC hired Southeastern Idaho native Matt Hardin as the Executive Director. Hardin is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional specializing in co-occurring disorders. As a graduate from Idaho State University and Walden University, Hardin has spent the last five years dedicated to serving our community of Bannock County by treating mental health and substance use issues with clients of all ages. Hardin’s and Best’s immediate priority will be to hire a full staff of up to 25 position consisting of Case Managers, Nurses, Paramedics, Psych Techs, Peer Support, Recovery Coaches, Security and other key positions. Identical to the Crisis Centers in other regions of the State, the Center will be governed by a Board of Directors as set forth in Idaho Code §39-9104. Bannock County is now accepting applications for a Physician, a Health Professional, a Local Behavioral Health Consumer and a Member at Large.
