With people spending more time at home due to Covid-19, it's setting the stage for a great time to sell personal items. Unfortunately, scammers are taking advantage of this opportunity.

It's easy to list or buy items on popular websites such as Poshmark, Craigslist, and eBay but you must make sure you look at the reviews of the seller to make sure the item is legit.

If you're selling items online yourself, you should never accept payment in the form of check or money orders as scammers can easily send you a bad check or money order and then you will be held responsible for the fee that your bank may charge.

Jeremy Johnson, Marketplace Manager, BBB said, "The best thing if you're selling or buying anything online is to keep everything within the site you're using. Keep all the communications or money transactions within that site and follow their guidelines."

If a buyer tries to communicate with you on a separate messaging system, it most certainly should be a red flag.
