Smoke from wildfires is continuing to build into the region which is also impacting our air quality.
Plenty of wildfire is coming into our area mainly from Oregon, as well as California.
Locally across the Snake River Plain, the air quality in Pocatello was listed as Moderate today while other counties such as Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton counties are in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category.
Moderate air quality is acceptable for most people but those who have asthma could be impacted
Clay Woods, Air Shed Coordinator, DEQ Pocatello said, "The unhealthy for sensitive groups just means that there's a larger percentage of the population are probably going to have healthy effects but still the general population, young healthy adults are probably not going to have any health effects."
Unfortunately this is a trend that will continue throughout the week as a wind shift will occur which will still allow plenty of smoke to make its way into our area from northern California even by the end of the week.
