A man is in custody and another woman is facing charges after a pursuit in Bingham County ends with the suspect being shot by a sheriff’s deputy.
The incident began Thursday morning when police responded to a call of a fight at the Sage Hill Truck Stop.
When officers from Bingham County and Fort Hall arrived at the scene, police say Kenneth Jensen fled the area in a stolen pickup truck that had a trailer attached to it.
Police pursued the suspect south on Highway 91. Jensen then turned onto Ferry Butte Road and then on to a gravel road. When the road ended, police say Jensen attempted to back up and drive into a Fort Hall police car.
Then police say Jensen brandished a weapon and a Bingham County Deputy fired at him and struck him. Jensen was then transported to Portneuf Medical Center but he refused medical treatment. He was then taken to the Bingham County Jail.
Idaho State Police is investigating the incident and charges against Jensen are pending.
A passenger in the vehicle, Chelsey Christensen from Idaho Falls, is also facing charged.
