RELEASED BY: Scott Johnson

Rexburg, ID - The City of Rexburg welcomes the Innovation Collective and the University of Idaho to Rexburg as part of a 20-city tour of Idaho to help promote a rapid learning initiative called “Inspire Idaho.” The Inspire Idaho team will demonstrate app development, programming, and motivate participants to join the rapidly growing “app economy.” This event is open to the public and free of charge and will take place on the third floor of the North Point commercial building in Rexburg.

The Inspire Idaho team includes members of the Innovation Collective, and the University of Idaho as well as experts from around the country trained in app development in Apple’s Inc.’s Swift programming language.

Each stop on the tour will include hands-on demos of Apple’s: Swift, Xcode and Playground products, as well as the ability for participants to use Apple iPads to program Sphero Robots and other interactive activities. Participants, young and old, will have a chance to write basic code and then watch their code move robots according to their programing.

“This is a great opportunity for our community. I encourage college and high school students, as well as members of the community to attend this event,” says Scott Johnson, Director of Economic Development for the City of Rexburg.

This event will take place on Tuesday March 27th in Rexburg on the 3rd floor above the Shops at Northpoint (76 West 2nd S). Two sessions will be held: 7:30 am to 10:00 am and 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Parking is available on the BYU-Idaho Campus at the Stadium Parking Lot.
