New stores and restaurants have been popping up in Chubbuck, 84 applied for permits just in 2017.

One of them is Tres Hermanos, a restaurant that makes Mexican food in the style of a home-cooked meal.

It's in the old Taqueria La Costa location on Yellowstone Ave.

You may remember the story of Hector Martinez, Taqueria La Costa's owner. Martinez was forced to close the business and go back to Mexico to wait for his American citizenship papers.

His brother Jaimie is taking over the location with his restaurant Tres Hermanos.

A Tres Hermanos location has been open in American Falls since 2000. The owners hope to keep Taqueria La Costa's old customers happy in Martinez' absence.

Missael Brambila, Martinez’ nephew, said, "We've actually got a lot of them right now, and they come in here and they really like our food too. And we're just trying to keep them. So they're trying it out, and I know they really miss Hector, but we're doing our best to just keep it going for him."

Martinez is now in Mexico, and it could take up to 10 years for him to get his citizenship papers. His brother has signed a five-year lease, but he says after that, he will be happy to give it back to his brother.
