Pocatello double homicide

Pocatello double homicide at 4200 Philbin Road

Two people are dead after a double homicide in Pocatello Friday night.

According to Pocatello Police, dispatch got a call around 11:30 p.m. from neighbors reporting gunshots at a home at 4200 Philbin Road.

When police arrived, they found the front door of the home open.

Police said they also found 21-year-old Timothy Hunt, from Pocatello, dead in the doorway. They then found 41-year-old Jennifer Leigh, from Pocatello, dead in the master bedroom.

According to police, Jennifer Leigh's 7-year-old child was also inside the house but police are not yet sure whether the child witnessed the crime. Forensic interviews will be conducted. Police said the child was unharmed and is now in the custody of other family members.

Police also told KPVI that there was another child who lives at the house but was not home at the time of the shooting.

PPD said around 1:40 a.m. they located the shooter, 39-year-old Jesse Leigh. He was found at a home in Chubbuck and was taken into custody without incident.

Sgt. Bill Collins with PPD added that they did recover a handgun but aren't sure yet if it was the one used in the shooting.

The bodies are in the custody of the Bannock County Coroner and will be sent to Ada County for forensic autopsies on Monday.

Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner told KPVI the bodies are being sent to Ada County because they're the only county in the state that can do a forensic autopsy and Bannock County has an agreement with them.

Pocatello Police were assisted by Chubbuck Police, Bannock County Sheriff's Office and Idaho State Police.

The investigation is ongoing.
