Man arrested, to be charged in fatal hit-and-run

The man who was found guilty in the death of Bobette “Bobbi” Wilhelm has been sentenced.

On March 13, 2020, Bobbi Wilhelm was riding a bicycle on Buckskin Road in Pocatello.

A GMC truck struck Wilhelm sending her off the road and down a ravine. The vehicle left the scene. Her family reported her missing when she didn’t return from her ride. Police found her body three days later near the scene.

Vehicle parts were left at the scene, that evidence along with tips from social media led police to a truck belonging to Tyler Carter. Carter was arrested and charged with Vehicular Manslaughter and Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

On November 12, Carter was sentenced to up to ten years in state prison with the possibility of parole after four years as well as a $750 fine for each felony charge, totaling $1,500 in court fines. Carter was also ordered to pay $4,003.85 in restitution to Wilhelm’s estate. Carter was immediately remanded into state custody.
